Chiefs BJ Thompson suffers seizure and goes into cardiac arrest during team OTAs, team confirms he is in stable condition now

The Kansas City Chiefs faced a serious scare at the team’s organized team activities after defensive lineman BJ Thompson had to be rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure during a special teams meeting. He went into cardiac arrest shortly after, aggravating his situation and resulting in the team calling an ambulance.

The news was broken by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network that BJ Thompson was helped by the medical staff, who wasted no time in responding to the situation and because of their timely responsiveness, the defensive lineman is in stable condition. After this unfortunate incident, the Kansas City Chiefs canceled all activities for the rest of the day.

The team is scheduled to hold the final OTA activity of this week after they scheduled practices for Tuesday and Wednesday. The activities for Thursday including a media session with head coach Andy Reid that has been postponed to Friday. The fifth-round draft pick in the 2023 draft sat out for the majority of the team’s championship season.

The Chiefs are fast approaching the mandatory minicamp scheduled to take place from the 11th to the 13th of June. Following this, the team will meet in July for the commencement of training camp.

It has been an eventful last few months for the Kansas City Chiefs. Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs faces accusations of second-degree animal cruelty after news emerged that he abandoned two malnourished dogs at a rental home in Alabama. Wide receiver Rashee Rice found himself in the midst of legal turmoil after he crashed his car in Dallas.

Recently, Harrison Butker, the team’s placekicker gave a controversial commencement speech that created quite a stir among the masses. The term cardiac arrest is serious, especially following the Damar Hamlin situation. Fortunately, Thompson is doing alright now, and hopefully, he will make a speedy recovery.
